Michael Oren is a senior fellow at the Shalem Center and a contributing editor of Azure. He is the author of The Origins of the Second Arab-Israeli War (1992), and of the prize-winning New York Times national bestseller Six Days of War: June 1967 and The Making of the Modern Middle East (Oxford, 2002). After completing his Ph.D. in history at Princeton University, Oren served as a major in the Israeli Defense Forces. He also acted as a representative of the Prime Minister's Office to the Jewish underground in the Soviet Union, and served as an advisor to the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. Oren's most recent book, Power, Faith, and Fantasy: America in the Middle East from 1776 to the Present (2007), published by Norton Press, has received international media acclaim. |
